Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA)

Hill Hill Carter, individual members, and their families have been dedicated to supporting the programs of the YMCA of Greater Montgomery for many years. The YMCA is a dynamic association of men, women, and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of our youth, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Members of our firm and their families have been involved in all aspects of the various YMCA programs.  Among our attorneys and their families, we count: first, second, third, and fourth generation program participants, first and second-generation campers, program developers and advisers, a Man of the Year Recipient, two Man of the Year nominees, one current Board President, two past Board Presidents, a past Board President for the Jimmy Hitchcock Memorial Award, four Board members, a board member of the William C. Chandler Endowment Foundation, a former employee, and one attorney who has been a member of the Downtown Montgomery YMCA since 1962!

The Mission:

The mission is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

The YMCA is dedicated to building programs for youth development, for healthy living, and for social responsibility that promote healthy families, character values, youth leadership, community development and international understanding. It makes accessible the support and opportunities that empower people and communities to learn, grow, and thrive by providing supportive and inclusive environments that nurture the well-being and provides opportunities to give back and support neighbors.

Values:

There are five core character development values that are the shared beliefs and essential principles of the YMCA: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Caring, and Faith. These values reflect and guide the behavior and interactions with each other as well as with the programs, curriculum, and decision making.

Philanthropy:

Every year, over 400 volunteers and staff members, including members of Hill Hill Carter, will actively go into the community during the Annual Support Campaign to raise the dollars needed to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, faith, ability level, income, or background has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Financial assistance funded by Annual Campaign donations keeps the YMCA available for kids and families who need it most and provides programs that are responding to pressing community needs. 100% of all donations go directly toward providing life-changing experiences that will have a meaningful, enduring impact right in our Montgomery community.
