With Great Sadness Hill Hill Carter Announces the Death of Long-Time Shareholder Robert William Bradford, Jr.

It is with great sadness that Hill, Hill, Carter announces the death of long-time shareholder Robert William Bradford, Jr. who died at home surrounded by family on March 19, 2021, after a brief illness.

Bob was born September 7, 1944, in Glasgow, Ky. He graduated from Montgomery County High School in 1962 and attended David Lipscomb College before serving in the U.S. Navy for four years. He later graduated from Lipscomb and was admitted to law school at Vanderbilt University, where he graduated in 1975. He was employed as an associate at Bradley, Arant, Rose & White in Birmingham, Al, where he met his wife of 42 years, the former Nancy Kathleen McEntire. In 1980, they moved to Montgomery, where he became a shareholder at Hill, Hill, Carter, Franco, Cole & Black and practiced law for 40 years.

Bob enjoyed the intricacies and competition of complex litigation, and he excelled at it. He developed a particular interest in aviation law, with his trial and appellate work resulting in over 50 published opinions. In all matters, even the most contentious of litigation, Bob presented a steady presence of calm, respect, and honesty. Throughout his practice, he enjoyed mentoring and encouraging associate lawyers, and he received much pleasure in watching their practices develop.

Above all else, Bob was a gentleman who cherished his faith in God and loved his family. His friendship and measured guidance will be sorely missed.
